Cabinet endorses Policy for Women-2015
Bhopal: State cabinet at its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan today endorsed Policy for Women-2015. The policy envisages sensitization on women-related issues, eradication of gender discrimination, development of professional expertise and skills and make available employment to women. The policy also seeks to ensure control over development resources and partnership in decision making, providing quality services for art of living, physical and mental health and property related rights of women.
Under the policy, all departments/organisations must effectively implement and monitor policies, programmes and schemes related to women. An action plan is being chalked out to evolve an effective system to implement them within prescribed time-limit. Nodal officers will be appointed and their responsibility fixed in every department and organisation for policy related provisions. Government servants with outstanding performance will be rewarded and action will be taken against non-performers.
Records of all directives and instructions pertaining to women’s rights will be maintained. Special Gram Sabhas will be held once a year. State Women’s Resource Centre will review and evaluate works of all departments under Policy for Women. Women-related issues will be constantly updated on the portal. Gender sensitization training will be imparted to create sensitivity towards women in the departments implementing the policy. Efforts will be made to ensure participation of all stakeholders, families, local communities, NGOs, media and various departments in protection of women’s interests.
Priority has been attached in the Policy to women’s safety, equality, respect and participation in development process. For implementing the policy in accordance with its essence, government departments, media, social institutions, organisations, writers, litterateurs, intellectuals, Panchayat raj institutions and public representatives should join hands and ensure their positive role so that objectives and positive results of Policy for Woman can be achieved.
