Budget to ensure far-reaching improvements in rail system

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Minister for Railways Shri Suresh Prabhu has presented a balanced budget which will ensure far-reaching improvements in rail system.

Shri Chouhan said that the Minister has set a target for investment of Rs. 8 lakh 56 thousand 20 crore in railway security and infrastructure during next 5 years. This will not only strengthen railway system and make it more convenient, but will also improve country’s economy.

The Chief Minister said that rail is the most important wing of country’s transport system. Strengthening rail system and making it more convenient were being contemplated for long. Shri Chouhan congratulated Shri Suresh Prabhu that he has presented a budget for making railways more dynamic and facilitate common people. Side by side passenger convenience, he has also given importance to their safety. Specially worthy of welcome is the decision to install CCTV cameras in women’s bogies to ensure their safety. He has announced to provide wi-fi facility at 400 stations, continuation of 138 helpline 24X7 and pick-up drop facility at major stations. Similarly, now people will not have to stand in queue for hours to obtain general ticket. It will be issued within 5 minutes. In deference to Prime Minister’s wish, stations will be modernised and developed at global level. System to serve food and beverages will be improved. Senior citizens and pregnant women will be allotted lower berths. Overall, the budget gives facilities to common people.
