Irrigation Scheme worth 600 crore to be Started

Bhopal. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that necessary steps are being taken by the state government for the welfare of farmers and poor families. We will make every effort to ensure that farmers and the poor become part of the progress. Shri Chouhan was speaking at Antodaya Mela organized at Janpad Headquarter Badwara of district Katni today. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan laid foundation stone and dedicated the developement works worth Rs. 40 crore on the occasion. He also distributed benefits of almost Rs. 5 crore 50 lakh related to 20 departments. Minister for SC, ST Welfare and District Incharge Shri Gyan Singh and Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Industries (Independent Charge), Higher Education, Social Justice and Disabled Welfare Shri Sanjay Pathak were present on the occasion.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan announced that Irrigation scheme costing Rs. 600 crore will be started in Badwara to provide water for irrigation to farmers’ fields. Water for irrigation will be provided by lifting from Bargi canal. Referring to the agriculture loans, Shri Chouhan said that the farmers will have to repay now Rs. 90 thousand against a loan of Rs. One lakh. Balance 10 thousand will be repaid by the government.

Shri Chouhan said that the state government is committed for the redressal of grievances of the poor. It has been decided by the government to provide patta of the same land to the poor where they are residing since last so many years. Also campaign will be conducted for construction of house on the same land. A sum of Rs. One lakh 20 thousand will be provided to the poor for construction of house. Shri Chouhan further added that 5 lakh houses in urban areas and 8 lakh houses in rural areas will be constructed for poor in the next two years.

Highlighting necessity of education for children Shri Chouhan said that fee for engineering, medical, management and higher studies of law will be borne by the state government. Moreover, loan ranging from Rs. 10 lakh to one crore will be provided for establishment of industry to the identified capable youths. Guarantee for repayment will be given by the state government in these cases. Shri Chouhan said that water supply will be ensured through pipelines to the villagers of Badhwara block to get them rid of lifting water from hand pumps. Shri Chouhan made an announcement as regard to commencing classes for science and commerce subjects in college on demand of girls’ students.

MLA Mudwara, Jila Panchayat President, Mayor, Chairman of Katni Development Authority and Public Representatives were present in the programme.
