Bhopal under the oil crises

Bhopal: Against the administration’s decision to close the Nishatpura situated Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited depot, tanker drivers have decided to go on a strike. If the strike, which will begin from Monday, continues for more than a day, petrol and diesel will become in short supply at 28 HPCL petrol pumps in the city. An acute crisis of petrol and diesel is looming large over the city.

The Drivers of the HPCL tanker have refused to supply petrol from the Bhauri Bakania located Reliance depot and will go on an indefinite strike from Monday. There are 84 petrol pumps in the city, out of which 28 run on supply from HPCL.

District administration, however, has warned the striking tanker drivers to be ready to face the consequences if they go on strike. The decision to close the Nishatpura situated depot was taken on May 15 after fire broke out in one of the tankers at the depot, threatening to engulf the entire depot in fire. The depot currently has only stock of diesel which would be exhausted in about three days.

Petrol pumps in Royal Market, Hamidia Road and Lal Ghati will be the worst hit as most of these belong to HPCL. Shivam Filling Station (Arera Hills), Capital Petrol Pump (Raisen Road) and Fill More (New Market) also will not be able to supply petrol and diesel once the current stock is over.
