Bauddh University in State Soon, 15% of Budget on Dalit Welfare: Chouhan

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that country’s first Bauddh University will be established in the state, said an official release.

Speaking at the National Unity and Social Equality Conference at Mhow, he said that the university will be established at Sanchi disseminating teachings of Lord Buddha, for which a 65-acre land has been selected, said release.

The chief minister said that the memorial constructed at Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s birth place Mhow will be made more fabulous, release said.

Noting that the real tribute to Dr Ambedkar is to chalk out and implement welfare programmes for dalits and downtrodden people, the chief minister said that fifteen per cent amount of this year’s budget will be spent on dalit welfare works since their population is 15 per cent in the state, said release.

He said that through Sant Ravidas Shilp Vikas Nigam, help would be extended to dalit youths in getting employment, release said.

Chouhan said that schemes like Mazdoor Suraksha Yojana and Deendayal Antyodaya Upchar Yojana have been launched in the state as service to the poor is service to God, said release.

Former Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu was the chief guest of the function. Those present on the occasion included state’s Commerce and Industry Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Tribal Welfare Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah, former Union minister Satyanarayan Jatia and Minister of State for Scheduled Castes Welfare Harishankar Khatik.
