The great ghazal singer left us

MUMBAI: Ghazal king, Jagjit Singh passed away this morning. H e was in hospital care after he suffered a brain hemorrhage some days before.

He was a great Ghazal singer, the wistful tone of ‘Yeh daulat bhi le lo’, the knowing insistence of ‘Tum itna jo muskura rahe ho’ or the melifluous quality of ‘Hoshwalon ko khabar kya’ — each of his renditions are close to every Indian’s heart and have touched lives in one or the other way.

Today Jagjit Singh is not with us but his voice will remain with us forever in form of the beautiful song sung by him.
