Baghel urges Cong workers not to be overconfident

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister on Tuesday cautioned party workers not to be “over confident and over enthusiastic” about the party’s poll prospect as their rivals have mastered the art of “hatching conspiracies.”

The chief minister addressing an election rally here also made scathing attacks on the BJP-led Union government and also the saffron party’s previous governments in the state.

Directly attacking former chief minister Raman Singh, Baghel said in his (Raman) definition, the Chhattisgarh meant only his daughter, son-in-law and in laws.

He further reiterated that if Ajit Jogi’s party had not supported the BJP in the 2018 assembly elections, it might have been restricted to only three sets.

On Raman Singh and BJP’s charges that his government was on a loan-borrowing spree, Baghel said they were taking loans in public interest.

“We have taken loan to waive off farm loan, curtail power tariff and procuring paddy at Rs 2500 MSP and not for distributing mobiles and indulging in corruption like them”, the CM said.

He also flayed the Centre for not cooperating in the probe over Jheeram incident. “Raman as well as Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi should clarify why they are not handing over the case to the state government,” Baghel said. Without naming any leader, he further alleged that a person who does not even spares ‘Bapu’ (Mahatma Gandhi) from slandering and never miss a chance to defame former prime ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi could also be involved in political assassination.
