Agriculture-related meeting held at Mantralaya

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is first in the country in the production of soyabean, gram, pulses and oilseeds. Madhya Pradesh is expected to be in the list of top three states in wheat production also. This year, excess rains have been registered in 42 districts of the state. Its benefit will result in increase in crop production. In years to come, Madhya Pradesh may emerge the top state in gram production not only in India but also in the world. This was informed at an agriculture meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa at Mantralaya here today. He sought information about status and implementation of agriculture schemes. Agriculture Production Commissioner Shri M.M. Upadhyay was also present on the occasion.

It was informed at the meeting that Madhya Pradesh has not only established its identity as the largest wheat-growing state in the country after Uttar Pradesh and Pujab, but the state is also making speedy progress in production of gram and millet. Due to use of SRI method and guidance to farmers, paddy production in the state has increased to over 42 lakh MT. Maize production in the state is likely to be 30 lakh MT. It was informed at the meeting that agriculture and horticulture area in the state has increased remarkably increase in productively, ideal seed transplant, deep ploughing, seed treatment, Beej Gram Yojana, mustard production through SRI Method, summer production of moong, drip irrigation method, ridge furrow method and use of latest agricultural implements. Principal Secretary Agriculture Shri Rajesh Rajora, Principal Secretary Horticulture Smt. Kanchan Jain, Secretary Public Relations and Managing Director of Agriculture Industries Development Corporation Shri Rakesh Shrivastava, and Commissioner Horticulture Shri Anurag Shrivastava were also present on the occasion.
