Administrative service is a rare opportunity to work for public welfare : CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that administrative service is a rare opportunity to work towards progress of the country and state. A handful of people get such an opportunity. Officers should work with zeal and passion for improving future of the state’s people. Shri Chouhan was formally inaugurating IAS Association Service Meet 2012 at RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration here today.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that administrative officers have to lead with foresightedness, innovations and judicious intellect during present time. They should have live contact with people and public representatives. He said that useful feedback is received through constant dialogue. Quoting Shlokas from the Gita, he enumerated qualities of a good administrative officer. He said that a good officer is one who is impartial, free from ego, patient and always enthusiastic and has same emotions in success or failure. He said that one who tries constantly is never defeated.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan congratulated association office-bearers for holding this meet. He said that one should spare time for exercise, prayanam and sports to energise body and mind. He hoped that officers will work with new zeal and energy after the service meet. Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated the meet by lighting a lamp.
Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram said that administrative arrangements are changing constantly. The initial form of the administrative service was regulatory. Later, it changed to responsibility to lead in development. At present, administrative officers need to work as team player with skillfulness ensuring participation of community, public representatives and institutions. He informed that Indian Administrative Service is a service in which there are optimum chances for leadership right from sub-division upto Central level.
At the outset, association’s president Smt. Aruna Sharma welcomed the guests. Throwing light on the service meet’s objectives, she said that besides brainstorming, various interesting activities like adventure, indoor and outdoor games and cultural programmes will be held during the service meet from December 14 to 16. Association’s vice-president Shri Ashok Warnval proposed a vote of thanks. Shri Hari Ranjan Rao conducted the proceedings. The association presented a mementoe to the Chief Minister.
