A Huge Scam in Loan Waiver Scheme in Hoshangabad: Report

The Deputy Commissioner of Hoshangabad has written a letter to the state government, which can unravel a Rs 200 crore loan waiver scam, reported CNN-IBN.

The letter, which has been written to the State Cooperatives Commissioner and Registrar, reveals that around four crore rupees meant for farm loan waiver was siphoned off in Hoshangabad alone, report said.

With the state government yet to take an action on this, Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries Arun Yadav alleged that more than actually Rs 200 crore was siphoned off, said report.

“Over 200 crore rupees have been siphoned and the government is aware of this. About 2200 employees were found guilty. Action was taken against only 10 people,” Arun Yadav was quoted as saying.

Recently, the matter was raised in the state assembly forcing ruling BJP to admit discrepancies of over Rs 115 crore.

Also, Cooperatives Minister Gauris Shankar Bisen admitted that over 600 bank employees and 1,507 staff of Primary Credit Societies were involved in the scam.

“This is related to auditing irregularities. We have so far found irregularities of around Rs 115 crore and we are getting the matter investigated,” Bisen was quoted as saying.

It may be mentioned that state received Rs 914 crore from the Centre for farm loan waiver and the state government transferred the money to the district cooperative banks for implementation of the scheme.

However, the banks allegedly worked overtime to waive off loans of ineligible persons, depriving farmers of the benefits, report said.
