69.17 lakh MT wheat procured on support price in state

Bhopal: So far, 69 lakh 17 thousand MT wheat has been procured on support price from farmers by Food & Civil Supplies Corporation. Procurement in the state had begun from March 25. A sum of Rs. 9,827 crore has been paid to farmers against procurement of wheat from them. This year, 17 lakh 32 thousand 282 farmers had got registered for selling wheat on support price. Madhya Pradesh is the number 2 state in procurement of wheat on support price. As much as 109 lakh MT wheat has been procured in Punjab and 65 lakh MT in Haryana.

The state government has authorised Madhya Pradesh state Civil Supplies Corporation and Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Marketing Federation (MARKFED) for procurement of wheat on support price. This year, wheat is being procured from farmers at the rate of Rs. 1550 per quintal. The Central Government has declared Rs. 1400 as support price for wheat procurement. The state government is giving Rs. 150 per quintal bonus on it. So far, 66 lakh 67 thousand MT procured wheat has been safely stored. This year, 2,980 procurement centres have been set up in the state, which is 128 more than last year.
