5 lakh houses to be built for poor in state: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that 5 lakh houses will be constructed for the poor in the state in next 5 years. He said that Rs. 8 crore will be allocated for installing GPS system in auto-rickshaws, vans, Tata Magic and other small vehicles in view of women’s safety in Indore. Shri Chouhan said that the state government is committed to ensuring respect, dignity and safety of women in the state. Shri Chouhan said that illegal colonies in the state will be legalised and regularised.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was laying foundation stones and inaugurating works worth crores of rupees at Indore today. Shri Chouhan laid foundation stone of a bridge costing Rs. 8 crore at Samwad Nagar. He also inaugurated a culvert costing Rs. one crore linking Gita Nagar with Paricharika Nagar. Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya, Mayor Shri Krishna Murari Moghe, Indore Development Authority’s Chairman Shri Shankar Lalwani, MLAs Shri Mahendra Hardia, Sushri Usha Thakur and Shri Sudarshan Gupta were present on the occasion.

Shri Chouhan said that special attention is being paid to urban development in the state. Process of metro rail in Indore is being undertaken at a rapid pace. A Rs. 375 crore project has been sanctioned to purify Khan river. It is being considered as to how Narmada water can be brought to Khan river. Shri Chouhan informed that 30 percent posts have been reserved for women in police recruitment also.

Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya said that there will be no lack of budget for urban development. Adequate budget will be made available for it. The budget of state’s Urban Administration Department has been increased from Rs. 600 crore to Rs. 6000 crore. Shri Vijayvargiya informed that Indore is among 10 best cities in the country.
