2 schemes worth Rs. 2608 crore sanctioned for all districts under Rural Electrification Scheme

Bhopal. Under Rural Electrification Scheme, 52 schemes worth Rs. 2608 crore have been sanctioned for all the districts of the state. Dense electrification of 953 unelectrified and 49 thousand 369 villages is proposed under Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Scheme. Under the schemes, electricity connections will be provided to about 19 lakh BPL families.
So far, electricity connections have been provided to about nine lakh six thousand domestic consumers including about seven lakh five thousand BPL beneficiaries by electrification of 516 unelectrified villages and dense electrification of 18 thousand 738 villages under Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Scheme.
The Rural Electrification Corporation Limited has accorded sanction to 48 schemes worth Rs. 2500 crore for all the districts under the Scheme. Of these, sanction has been received for eight schemes during 10th Five-Year Plan, 24 schemes in the first phase of 11th Five-Year Plan and 16 schemes have been sanctioned in the second phase of 11th Five-Year Plan. Besides, the Corporation has also accorded supplementary sanction of Rs. 108 crore for four districts including Balaghat, Chhatarpur, Satna and Sidhi. Under it, the villages left out from the earlier sanctioned schemes have been covered.
Works are under progress in 32 out of 52 schemes sanctioned under Rural Electrification Scheme. Awards have been issued to give 16 schemes sanctioned under the first phase of 11th Five-Year Plan on turnkey basis. Besides, process is underway to issue awards for the supplementary schemes sanctioned for four districts under the second phase of 11th Five-Year Plan.
