2.54 lakh licensed weapons deposited

Bhopal: Large-scale security arrangements have been made to ensure free and fair Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh. To prevent misuse of weapons, illegal arms are being recovered and licensed weapons got deposited. So far, 2 lakh 54 thousand 891 licensed weapons have been deposited. In the series, 1178 licensed weapons have been seized and 3121 arms licenses cancelled. So far, 25 thousand 510 non-bailable warrants have been issued of which 920 were issued in last 24 hours. Similarly, police has seized 2010 illegal weapons.

Action has been taken under various sections of CrPC against one lakh 31 thousand 605 persons so far and one lakh 23 thousand 709 persons have been bound over. Action was taken against 1195 persons for violating this provision. In police action, explosives of 4 types have been seized. Besides, 14 different kinds of bombs and 531 live cartridges have also been seized.

As many as 442 check posts have been set up in view of security in Parliamentary constituencies. In all, 3425 majra-tolas have been identified under vulnerability mapping. Similarly, 8 thousand 256 people who can harass voters have also been identified. Action has been taken against 8091 such persons.
