17 central awareness observers appointed to monitor voter’s facilities

Bhopal: Election Commission of India has appointed 17 central awareness observers to monitor voter’s awareness, facilities and media-related issues in Madhya Pradesh. All observers have reached districts under their charge. Observers will undertake monitoring in 2 phases. They will also monitor voters’ assistance centres, voters’ facilitation centres and common service centres.

Collectors in every district have appointed nodal officers to assist in the work of awareness observers. Nodal officers will accompany awareness observers during their tours. In the state, voters’ awareness campaign is underway for the last many years in every Vidhan Sabha constituency. Participation of voluntary organisations in this campaign is being ensured. Awareness observers will review all these activities.
They will also seek information about meetings of MCMC core committee. Besides, they will also view affidavits submitted by candidates to returning officers during electoral process, candidates’ criminal record and forms for moveable and immovable assets and information regarding education. Awareness observers will also seek information regarding district level media cell. It is noteworthy that voter awareness messages are being broadcast through mass media in rural and urban areas. Awareness observers will also review basic amenities to be provided to voters at polling booths and distribution of polling slips.
