1.50 lakh devotees to get food grains on concessional rates daily during Simhastha

Bhopal : About 1.50 lakh saints, seers and their followers will be provided food grains on concessional rates daily during Simhastha for 60 days. Each of them would be provided 500 gram food grains, 150 gram sugar and one litre kerosene on concessional rates daily. For this, 6 fair price shops will be set up at Siddhwat, Kal Bhairav and Garhkalika sectors, 13 in Mangalnath, Khilchipur and Khak Chowk, 17 in Ranjeet, Dutt Akhada, Mulla Pura, Ujad Akhada and Bhukhi Mata and 4 fair price shops will be established in Harsiddhi, Narsingh Ghat, Lalpur and Chintaman Ganesh sectors. thus, 40 fair price shops will be established in Mela area. Food & Civil Supplies Department has assesses per capita per day requirements of devotees during Simhastha. Estimates have been made to make available 350 gram wheat per capita per day that amounts to 21 kg for 60 days. Similarly, for 1.50 lakh devotees, 3150 MT wheat, 1350 MT rice at the rate of 150 gram per capita per day that amounts to 9 kg for 60 days, 1350 MT sugar, 90 MT salt and 300 kilolitre kerosene. Besides, 1000 MT wheat and 50 MT rice will also be made available in the open market by Civil Supplies Corporation. Consumption of 60 thousand gas cylinders Total 16 temporary gas agencies are being set up in every sector of Mela area. Gas cylinders of 5 kg will be provided to saints, seers and their followers. It is estimated that 60 thousand gas cylinders will be consumed in Mela area. During Simhastha, 53 petrol-diesel pumps are operating in Ujjain city and Ujjain’s approach roads. Their storage capacity is 1101 kilolitre petrol and 1612 kilolitre diesel. At present, their average petrol consumption is 56 thousand litres per day and diesel 76 thousand litres. It is estimated that one lakh 32 thousand petrol and one lakh 66 thousand diesel will be consumed during Simhastha. For providing food grains, gas cylinders, petrol and diesel during Simhastha, 16 Assistant Supply Officers, 44 Junior Supply Officers and about 100 staff will work continuously. These personnel has been imparted special training.
