State Govt. will leave no stone unturned to honour sportspersons

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that sportspersons should put in excellent performances. State Government will leave no stone unturned in honouring them. He assured maximum cooperation to talented players. Shri Chouhan was addressing Shikhar Khel Alankaran Samaroh-2013 at TT Nagar Stadium here today.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that it is his cherished desire that players of the state win medals in Olympics. Whatever assistance and facilities required for preparing for the event will be provided to players. State Government will also extend requisite cooperation in extending jobs and self-employment to players. He offered job of Boxing Academy’s Advisor to Olympic medallist Sushri M.C. Marikom. Shri Chouhan extended Janmashtami greetings to all.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan honoured Olympics bronze medallist Sushri M.C. Marikom and state’s shooter Sushri Rajkumari Rathore, who has been selected for Arjuna Award with shawl and coconut. He released a souvenir focusing on state’s players honoured under Gramin Yuva Kendra, Veerangana Yojana and those felicitated at sports award-giving ceremony. He conferred Eklavya award to13 players, Vikram Award to 9 players and Vishwamitra Awards to 3 coaches. Prabhash Joshi Award-2013 instituted this year by State Government was conferred on Malkhamb player Shri Ajay Vakttariya and Lifetime Achievement Award for year 2013 to Shri R.L. Verma. At the outset, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan garlanded a photograph of late Major Dhyanchand.

Sushri Marikom urged women to come forward to participate in sports. Giving example of herself and Sushri Rajkumari Rathore, she sought to motivate woman players. She said that Madhya Pradesh government is extending unprecedented support to woman players. Women should avail this opportunity. She urged parents to consider sons and daughters equal. Sushri Rajkumari Rathore expressed gratitude towards the State Government for cooperating with sports and sportspersons.

Director Sports Dr. Shailendra Shrivastava threw light on Sports Awards Ceremony. He informed that apart form year 2013, Vikram Awardees for year 2012 are also being given certificates and appointment letters in government service. He informed that next batch under “Maa Tujhe Pranam Yojana” will be sent soon. The Director Sports presented mementoes to the guests

MLAs Shri Dhruv Narayan Singh and Shri Jitendra Bundela, Principal Secretary Sports & Youth Welfare Dr. M. Mohan Rao, Sushri Marikom and large number of sports persons, office-bearers of Sports Federations and sports-lovers were present on the occasion.
