Uma: Supporting Advani is “Rashtra Dharma”

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Bhartiya Janashakti Party chief Uma Bharti met NDA prime ministerial hopeful LK Advani in New Delhi on Thursday and expressed intentions to support the BJP patriarch in his campaign for the top post towards the fulfillment of her own “rashtra dharma”

“I have not done any favour to BJP or Advaniji by supporting them. Neither do I want them to feel this support as a favour. I have just fulfilled my duty to the nation. It is my rashtra dharma,” the Sadhvi was quoted as saying by PTI.

Bharti, who was first suspended from the BJP for launching a tirade against Advani in full media glare says the BJP would extend maximum cooperation within her bcapacity to her former party.

The BJS founder says that her meeting with Advani was the homecoming of a daughter as she always looked up to him as a father figure.

Uma watchers, however, are vary of the unpredictable Sadhvi’s latest tack, especially as it comes months after she attempted to pull down the BJP campaign in the elections to the state assembly in November 2008.

With her actions stoking speculations, the Sadhvi visibly relieved to be back in the media spotlight says she has no plans to join the BJP just yet.
