Two fishermen killed in a boat accident

TRIVUNANTHPURAM: In a boat mishap early morning on Thursday two fishermen died and three are still missing. This incident occurred two weeks after Italian navy guards’ firing off Kerala coast in which two Indian fishermen were killed.

Around 3 am a ship collided with their vessel off Kollam coast. According to initial reports the vessel ‘Don’ was carrying seven fishermen from Neendakara (Kollam) when the incident took place. Navy and Coast Guard ships were pressed into service to identify and capture the ship involved.

Chief Minister of Kerala Oommen Chandy has ordered a probe into the mishap and asked senior police and civic officials to co-ordinate rescue operations.

The deceased were identified as Francis Augustine and Xavior.
