Tutuor Held for Allegedly Raping Minor Student

Absconding for more than a month, a private tutor has been taken into custody for allegedly raping his minor student, said media reports citing police.

Investigating officer B Mukhedkar said that Rajendra Nadar, 52, had been on run since a complaint was lodged against him by the victim’s family, reports said.

“According to the complaint, the accused had been raping the girl for nearly three months. He then absconded from his residence in Vakola, Santacruz east,” he was quoted as saying.

Police interrogated Nadar’s relatives and acquaintances and even sent a police team to Chennai to trace him, said reports.

“Following a tip-off yesterday (Wednesday) that he will approach the sessions court to file for anticipatory bail, we laid a trap and nabbed him outside the court premises,” he was quoted as saying.

The 13-year-old victim is a resident of upmarket Khar and is studying in a nearby school.

Nadar, a professional private tutor, has been teaching other children in the area.
