Train derailed near Moradabad

LUCKNOW: Today Awadh-Assam Express derails leaving several people injured. On Saturday morning three coaches of Delhi bound Awadh-Assam Express derailed near Moradabad. After an inquiry the station master of Moradabad has been suspended.

Rescue team was also rushed to the spot soon after the accident. Several people travelling in the three coaches were injured in the accident. However, railway officials said that no serious injuries or casualties have taken place.

The accident happened soon after the train left Moradabad station. The speed was slow, hence derailment did not cause any major damage. The derailment occurred during changing of track by the train, said reports.

AK Sighal Assistant divisional railways manager told reporters that accident could also have occurred due to a wrong signal. He said that an inquiry has been ordered and station master has been suspended.

After the incident the three coaches were separated from the train and it was allowed to go ahead. The passengers of the derailed coaches were adjusted in the other coaches and some in other trains.

Due to the derailment the rail traffic was barred for several hours.
