State gets Krishi Karman Award for third consecutive year

New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh which has been scoring continuous success in agriculture production, was conferred prestigious Krishi Karman Award at Suratgarh in Shri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan today. The award comprises Rs. 2 crore, trophy and citation. It is third consecutive occasion that Madhya Pradesh has been earned this honour. It is noteworthy that state’s wheat area, production and productivity has increased very rapidly in the state, which has also enthused farmers.

Farmers felicitated

One male and one female farmer from the state were also conferred Individual Krishi Karman Awards by the Prime Minister. They were given Rs. one lakh, trophy and citation each.. Female farmer Smt. Rekha Saini is a progressive farmer of village Kehlari in Khandwa district. She converted 1.820 hectare of her land into an ideal farm. Of this, only one hectare is irrigated. Smt. Saini utilizes this land to grow maximum yield. In year 2013, she sowed HI 1544 variety of wheat and through advanced agriculture technique grew 47 quintal 20 kg wheat. Thus, she presented best example before farmers by earning Rs. 44 thousand 410 per hectare.

Organic farmer Shri Manohar Patidar

Organic farmer Shri Manohar Patidar has carved out a distinct image through continuous involvement in agriculture development activities. He is a resident of village Parwaliya Sadak in Phanda development block of Bhopal district. Officers of Government of India had also inspected and praised his farm.

Side by side use of latest agriculture implements, Shri Manohar Patidar is also pioneer in adopting old time technique of organic farming. Last year, Shri Patidar had sown GW variety of wheat in his 2.279 hectares. Apart from recommended quantity of fertilisers, he also used manure made of cow dung. The results of techniques applied by Shri Patidar, have surprised himself as well as other farmers of the area. Yield of his farm is much more than average 30 quintal yield of Bhopal district. Thus he earned net profit of Rs. one lakh 23 thousand, which is akin to a lighthouse for making agriculture profitable.

Agriculture Minister Shri Gaurishankar Shejwar, Agriculture Production Commissioner Shri R.K. Swai, Principal Secretary Shri Rajesh Rajaura and Director Agriculture Shri Mohan Lal as well Agriculture Department have congratulated both the farmers.
