Sushil Kumar disappointed to miss out Padma Bhusan

New Delhi: India’s wrestler Sushil Kumar, the only sportsman who has won the back-to-back Olymic medal is disappointed for not awarding with Padma Bhusan , despite being nominated in the categeory.
Wrestler Sushil Kumar, the only Indian sportsmen to win the back-to-back individual Olymic medals, is disappointed to miss out on the Padma Bhusan award though his name had been recommended.
Sports and Youth Welfare ministry had recommend Sushil for the prestigious award, but he his name is not consider for the award, as he already got the Padma Shree award in 2011.
As per the guidelines, there needs to be a period of at least five years between two Padma awards to the same person.
However the provision can be relaxed in highly deserving cases which is up to the discretion of the government. Under this rule, Sushil would be eligible for the Padma Bhusan for Padma Vibhusan only after 2016.
The 29-year-old Sushil said that it would have been good if his efforts of winning two consecutive Olympic medals has been recognized but he was willing to wait.
