Kerala RSS worker, out on bail in murder case of CPI (M) worker, stabbed to death in Thrissur

Thrissur:  An RSS member, accused in the murder case of a CPI (M) worker in Kerala, died after the motorcycle he was riding was rammed by a car in Thrissur district, police said on Sunday. After hitting and pinning the motorcycle to a wall by the road, some men got out of the car and attacked the RSS activist, P Anand, with sharp weapons, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Anand, a member of the BJP’s ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, was one of two accused in the killing of a Communist Party of India (Marxist) worker, Kasim, in 2014 and he was out on bail, police said.

Police said they are trying to identify and nab the men who fled after killing the RSS activist. “We right now cannot give out any details or confirm about the political angle to the killing. However, we have got strong cues based on which investigation is underway,” a senior police officer in Thrissur told a news channel.

Kummanam Rajasekharan, the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, recently carried out a state-wide yatra to protest what the party calls red and jihadi terror in the state. BJP president Amit Shad participated in the yatra. Shah had blamed CPI (M) for the killings saying the party never believed in democracy and held chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan responsible for most of the political murders in north Kerala.
