Poll promises are priorities of Government : Javdekar

New Delhi: The issues raised by BJP during elections are now priorities of the government unlike situations where what was said during polls was just rhetoric, Union minister Prakash Javadekar said.

The Environment Minister said the government was trying to engage the nation on the issues, on which it wants to govern, adding the address focused on governance, economic revival and empowerment of the disadvantaged groups.

Speaking at an interaction at the Indian Women’s Press Corps here, he said that representatives of other parties had told him that it was a “positive” speech which showed a roadmap.

In response to a question of China, Javadekar said that the visiting Chinese foreign minister and Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj had a three hour meeting.

“I discussed with Sushma ji, they practically covered entire gamut of issues. So I think there has been a very good start,” he said, adding that solutions of problems can be found and harmonious relations can be created.

Speaking further, Javadekar, who also holds Parliamentary Affairs and Information and Broadcasting portfolios, said in the last Parliament, there were 36 parties.

In this parliament there are several parties which have one or two members.

“But out belief is ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas’ (everyone’s support, everyone’s development) and Parliament will work on new ideals,” he added.
