Police Quizzes Sons of Deplaned Businessman, Gets No Cue

Amid allegations of family dispute, police is interrogating two sons of businessman Shahbaz Khan who was deplaned on Sunday in the wake of reports of presence of a terrorist on board Dubai-bound Emirates flight, reported PTI.

Officials of Sahar Airport police station said that Aslam Khan and Arif Khan are being questioned but probe did not produce any result as yet, said report.

On Sunday, the Dubai-bound Emirates flight carrying 356 passengers was grounded for four hours at Mumbai airport after a phone call from a person claimed that Khan was a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist.

Though called identified himself as one Suresh Chavan, Khan’s family suspected that his two sons who had a property dispute could be behind the move, said report.

Police said that Khan was let off after hours interrogation, for nothing suspicious was found to indicate that he was a terrorist, said report.

Shahbaz’s wife Munira, who accompanied him in the flight, was also questioned and let off last night, police said.

“Both have claimed that they had not made any calls. We got details of their whereabouts at the time of incident,” police inspector P Chinchalkar was quoted as saying.

He said that they had asked the duo if they suspect anybody.

In the meanwhile, police registered a case against Suresh Chavan, who is yet to be identified, under Sections 182 (false information with intention to harm), 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation) and 507 (criminal intimidation by anonymous communication) of the Indian Penal Code.
