Action under NSA and to expel adulterators from district should be taken : Minister Silawat

CS Mohanty gives directives for preventing food adulteration in video conference

The Minister for Public Health and Family Welfare Tulsiram Silawat said that stringent action would be taken against people involved in adulteration in milk, milk products and other food items. He asserted that in order to instill fear among the adulterators, officers of the police and administration should take action under the NSA and to expel adulterators from district. Silawat further said that protection will be given to those officers/employees, who take strict action against the adulterators. He said that a message should go to the entire country that the drive against adulteration is effective in Madhya Pradesh. Minister Silawat was addressing the video conference held under the Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary Sudhi Ranjan Mohanty at Mantralaya today.
The CS Mohanty said that the evil of adulteration should be eliminated otherwise it will affect our future generation. He directed that continuous action should be ensured against adulteration. Samples of food items should be examined by obtaining them from district headquarters along with tahsil, blocks and every town. Moreover, action should also be taken against vehicle owners for transporting adulterated food items.
Mohanty issued instructions to all the Collectors and Superintendents of Police along with the officers of Urban Bodies and Health Department to become active and work in mutual coordination against the adulterators. He told them to develop an effective intelligence mechanism, to obtain samples of milk, mawa, milk products and oil regularly and to register case against the owners of the establishments involved in adulteration. Mohanty said that adulteration is like a case of treason, therefore action should also be strictest against this crime. He gathered information on the action taken against adulteration in Satna, Rajgarh, Badwani, Sagar, Katni and other districts. Moreover, information about other basic health facilities was also obtained from the Collectors in the video conference.
The Principal Secretary Public Health and Family Welfare Smt. Pallavi Jain informed that laboratories are being set up in Jabalpur and Gwalior in connection to food safety. The Additional Chief Secretary Animal Husbandry Manoj Shrivastava, Principal Secretary Home S.N. Mishra, Transport Commissioner Dr. Shailendra Shrivastava were present at the conference. All the Divisional Commissioners, Collectors along with IGs and SPs were also present at District NIC Centres during the conference.
