Pak Blames India for Delay in Resumption of Bilateral Talks

Just a day after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh showing India’s commitment to resolve all outstanding issues with Pakistan through bilateral negotiations, Islamabad has accused New Delhi of deliberately delaying the peace talks.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Basit blamed India for the delay in resuming the bilateral talks accusing it of not being serious towards resolution of Kashmir and water issues.

According to ‘The Daily Times’, Basit, claiming that Pakistan wants result-oriented talks with India, said: “We are not interested in mere photo sessions. India’s behaviour testified that it does not want peace in the region,”

Besides, he criticized New Delhi for holding Islamabad responsible for its internal terror threat, adding that the world has recognised Pakistan’s sacrifices in the ‘war on terror’.

It may be noted that Singh, in an interview with a US daily, had said that New Delhi is committed to resolve all outstanding issues with Pakistan through bilateral negotiations.
