Muzaffarnagar violence : Governement forms judicial Commission for probe

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government on Monday constituted a one-member Judicial Commission to probe Muzaffarnagar violence, which has claimed over 30 lives so far.
“A one-member judicial inquiry commission of Justice Vishnu Sahai has been constituted by the government to probe the Muzaffarnagar violence starting from Kawal incident on August 27 till September 9,” State Home Secretary Kamal Saxena said.

Prominent among those named in the FIR are BJP Legislative Party Leader Hukum Singh, MLAs Bhartendu, Sangeet Som and Suresh Rana, BKU leader Naresh Tikait and Rakesh Taikait, former Congress MP Harendra Malik and former parliamentarian Sohanveer Singh and former minister Omvesh.

Tension has been running high since three persons were killed in Kawal village on August 27 over an eve teasing incident. At least 11 persons, including a TV channel journalist and a photographer, were killed on Saturday in violence that started during the mahapanchayat held in defiance of prohibitory orders to demand withdrawal of cases registered in connection with violence in Kawal.
