Manmohan, Sonia, Advani Pay Tribute to Nehru
On the occasion of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth anniversary, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, leader of opposition LK Advani and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi paid floral tribute before the portrait of leader in the Parliament House.
Other prominent leaders joining the country in offering tribute to the leader included power minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, new and renewable energy minister Dr Farooq Abdullah, petroleum minister Murli Deora, parliamentary affairs minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and minister of State for women and child sevelopment Krishna Tirath.
On the occasion, Rajya Sabha secretary general VK Agnihotri and other officers from Parliament also were present.
A booklet containing the profile of Nehru, brought out in Hindi and English by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, was presented to the dignitaries after they paid tributes to the late Congress leader.
