Kolkata defeated Punjab easily

CHANDIGARH: Knight Riders defeated Kings XI Punjab easily with 8 wickets here in Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali, Chandigarh.

Kolkata while chasing a moderate target of 125 runs lost just two wickets and achieved the target in 16.3 overs. Gambhir was the top scorer with 66 runs in just 44 balls with 7 fours and 1 six.

He was well supported by Kallis who made 30 runs in 23 balls. The duo added 53 runs for the third wicket. Chawla bowled with a tight line and pick 2 wickets and give away just 19 runs in his quota of 4 overs.
Earlier in the day Punjab won the toss and elected to bat.

They lost Valthaty early. But Gilchrist and Marsh played well. Punjab does not able to score fast because of tight bowling from Kolkata. Lee and Narine took two wickets each while Balaji and Bhatia pick one each. In the end Punjab was able to post a low target of 125 runs to Kolkata.

Gambhir is the Man of the Match.

Gautam Gambhir: “I have always believed if we play to our potential, we are a strong side to beat. The way we restricted them was an excellent effort on such a flat wicket. My Man of the Match to be honest is Rajat Bhatia.”

Adam Gilchrist: “[My injury] took the direction out of our innings. Hard to say what was a good score on this wicket.”
