Kings IX Punjab wins thriller

KOLKATA: Punjab wins thriller against Kolkata Knight Riders. Kolkata needed just 9 runs to win in their last over. But slow pacer Harmeet Singh bowled a beautiful over and gives just seven runs.

Kolkata Knight Rider’s won the toss and elected to field. Punjab lost two early wickets. After that Mandeep Singh and Hussey joined together and added 52 runs for the third wicket.

But they never look like getting a big score. In the end they managed to post a challenging total of 132 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Narine bowled a splendid spell with taking 5 wickets after giving away just 19 runs.

Kolkata lost an early wicket in chase. But after that Gambhir, Bisla, Tiwary played well but they don’t able to convert good starts into big innings. Dastry to win the game for Riders but they lost out in the last over.

They needed just nine runs in last over which they did not able to get. Chawla took three wickets while Bhatt took two. Narine was chosen Man of the Match for his 5 for 19.

Narine: “I look just to contain and hit the right areas. Pretty much everyone is on BBM [when asked whether he is in touch with his West Indies team-mates].”

Gautam Gambhir: “We left it till the end. You need to play intelligent cricket. We should have finished it off when we needed 13 off 12. We should have played better as a batting unit.”

Adam Gilchrist: “The guys fought well with the bat, some exceptional spin bowling from Narine and Co. always felt Harmeet had it in him.”
