Judgement Day Today in 26/11 Case, Sentence to Be Announced Later

In 26/11 case, the special sessions judge ML Tahaliyani is expected to be announced his judgement today against the lone surviving attacker Amir Ajmal Kasab, Indian accused Fahim Ansari and Sabahuddin Ahmed, said media reports.

However, the sentence in the case is likely to be pronounced later, reports said.

Any of the three, if found guilty, may face life imprisonment to death penalty. The charges framed against the accused range from criminal conspiracy to waging war against the nation and murder.

The court’s judgement consists of three-part procedure and today, it will announce only whether it holds the accused guilty or not.

Following this, if the ruling is guilty, the prosecution and the defence will argue over the quantum of punishment to the guilty and finally, the sentence will be pronounced.

All three accused are lodged in the Arthur Road prison and security, tight enough as it was, has been beefed further ahead of the expected judgment. Security men kept vigil at the jail, which also houses the special court, while CCTV cameras recorded all activity at the entry.
