Journalist who attended Kamal Nath’s news conference tests positive for coronavirus

Other journalists who were at the news conference - where Kamal Nath announced he was stepping down as chief minister - have been asked to self-quarantine

Bhopal: A journalist who attended senior Congress leader Kamal Nath’s final news conference as Madhya Pradesh chief minister has tested positive for the coronavirus causing Covid-19, said an India Today report.
The journalist’s daughter earlier tested positive for the virus, which has now infected hundreds in India — including 15 in Madhya Pradesh — and killed 11.
Other journalists who were at the news conference — where Kamal Nath announced he was stepping down as chief minister — have been asked to self-quarantine.
India is currently under a 21-day countrywide lockdown to prevent the spread of the new virus, named Sars-CoV-2.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and health experts have warned that the country faces a tidal wave of infections if tough steps aren’t taken.
The lockdown announcement came on Tuesday evening, just hours before it was to take effect.
First detected in a cluster of mysterious pneumonia cases in central China, the new coronavirus disease has grown into a pandemic that the World Health Organisation says is accelerating.
Over 18,000 people have died worldwide — including over 6,000 in Italy alone.
