Journalist J Dey receiving threat calls for a long time
MUMBAI: Ironically the Journalist J Dey was murdered during the day time in Mumbai. A day after senior investigative journalist, the police and the government is searching for answers on who is responsible and of course the vulnerability of journalists.
Dey’s friends and family paid their last respects to him.
Senior Journalist Jatin Desai who is a friend of Dey said, “He had been getting threat calls for a long time and he had even conveyed this to some officers he knew well.”
The postmortem report reveals that J Dey was shot at from a close range. Five bullets were pumped into his chest, while four of them pierced his body, the fifth one ended up just under his right shoulder.
While the police was preparing sketches of the assailants with the help of eye witness accounts and CCTV footage of nearby shops, the audacious attack on a journalist in broad daylight compelled the Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan to call an emergency meeting of the Home minister and top cops.
“For journalist’s protection, we have a plan and Commissioner of Police has said the investigation would be completed soon.” Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil said.
