JMM Talking to Both BJP and Cong for Formation of Govt: Soren

JMM chief and Jharkhand chief minister Shibu Soren has said that his party is talking to both the BJP and the Congress for formation of government and a final decision will be taken on Sunday, said media reports.

“Talks are on with both the BJP and the Congress,” the JMM chief was quoted as saying in Bokaro.

In response to the question as to when the decision will be taken, Soren said, “Our legislators are at different places and some of them are in New Delhi. We will meet Sunday in Ranchi to take a decision.”

On May 18, the BJP and the JMM had announced a power-sharing arrangement for the rest of the state assembly’s term under which the two parties had to share power on rotation basis. The JMM chief has gone back on the pledge stunning the BJP.

“The rotation of power is not acceptable to us,” Soren said on Thursday and declared he wound not resign to let the BJP take the reins of power.

He also said that he would fight a by-election to get elected to the Jharkhand legislature but did not specify from which seat.

According to reports, the two dissenting JMM legislators, Teklal Mahto and Lobin Hembrom – who went to New Delhi Thursday – were sent by Soren to hold talks with Congress leaders.

If Soren gets a positive response from the Congress, he could dump the BJP, the reports said quoting sources.
