Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda resigns

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda on Monday submitted his resignation to Governor Syed Ahmad hours after the Jharkhand cabinet recommended the dissolution of the state assembly.
Arjun Munda said, “I have submitted my resignation. The cabinet wants fresh elections. It is the only option if we want a stable government”.

The BJP and JMM have 18 members each in the 81-member state Assembly. Without the support of the JMM, Arjun Munda government lost the majority in the assembly.

The Congress has 13 state legislators, but the party has said that till Soren formally exits the government, it will not consider the option of trying to gather the numbers to stake claim.
