Jaya Demands Sacking of Ministers for Cop’s Death

AIADMK supremo Jayalalitha has demanded firing of two ministers blaming them for not taking any action to save the life of a policeman, who was crying for help after being assaulted by a gang, despite seeing him in this plight, said reports.

Sub-inspector Vetrivel was lying in a pool of blood after he was attacked by a gang in Tirunelveli district and during that time the convoy of ministers M R K Panneerselvam and Mohideen Khan passed through the area yesterday.

“The ministers did not take any steps to save the sub-inspector. They had only called for an ambulance during the golden hour period,” she said in a statement in Chennai, said PTI report.

Jayalalitha said that if the ministers had taken steps to take the injured to a close-by hospital by their car or a police vehicle rather than waiting for the ambulance, his life could have been saved.

Report said that Vetrivel was crying for help, according to eyewitnesses, but did not get any assistance in time from the ministers and accompanying officials.

Though later taken to a hospital, Vetrivel, who got a double promotion for being part of STF that gunned down forest brigand Veerappan, succumbed to his injuries.

Jayalalithaa condemned the incident and demanded dismissal of the ministers, describing their action as ‘inhuman’.
