Indian Officials Meet 21 Detained Indians in China
Indian consular officials have got access to 21 Indians who were arrested in Shenzhen by Chinese custom authorities five days ago for allegedly smuggling diamonds, said reports.
IANS reported quoting official sources that authorities from the Indian embassy in Beijing and that from the Indian consulate in Shenzhen met the persons arrested and sought information about the circumstances under which they were detained.
The report said that authorities would now take a decision as to whether detainees needed any assistance from the embassy in receiving legal aid.
On January 8, Anti-Smuggling Bureau of Shenzhen had arrested 21 Indians on charges of illegal transportation of diamonds from Hong Kong to Shenzhen.
