Hundreds of people marched towards India Gate for better safety of women

New Delhi: Hundreds of people on Thursday marched towards India Gate from south Delhi demanding better safety and security against the backdrop of the gang rape and brutal assault of a young girl in a moving bus 11 days ago.

The protest march came amid prohibitory orders placed in and around India Gate after the violence during protests against the gangrape.

Meanwhile, protests were held at Jantar Mantar as well where activist and lawyer Shobha Aggarwal alleged that the police were trying to subvert the protest by stating that Constable Subash Tomar died due to violence.

“The doctors in the postmortem report have said that there were no external injuries on Tomar’s body, but the internal injuries they are talking about like the breaking of rib cage bones all theses can happen due to cardiac massage given at the hospital just before death.

“The police are basically trying to subvert the movement,” she alleged.

Muhammad Wasi a student, raised question over the absence of members from National Commission for Women in the protest.
