Headley Probe Intensifies, No Clean Chits Yet

Hours after they arrived in Mumbai, National Investigation Agency (NIA) sleuths Sunday conducted raids at several places across the commercial capital and are likely to question Bollywood filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s son Rahul over his alleged friendship with the Pakistan-born American David Coleman Headley, currently in US custody, say media reports.

Intensifying the probe into suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative Headley’s role in the Mumbai terror attacks, the NIA is reported to have conducted raids at several locations in Mumbai.

Meanwhile authorities have clarified that no clean chit has been given to any of those under the scanner for their links to Headley.

Rahul Bhatt, a fitness instructor by profession, is believed to have met Headley at a gym during one of the latter’s nine visits to Mumbai since 2006.

The NIA team is investigating the activities of Headley and his alleged accomplice Tahawwur Hassan Rana, a Canadian of Pakistani origin, who were arrested by US’ Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Oct 3 for planning terror strikes in India and Denmark.

The NIA has registered a case against the duo and is probing their involvement in several terror strikes in the country last year.
