Gujarat Riots: SC Asks SIT to Complete Probe by Year End

Giving the Special Investigation Team (SIT) another five months to complete the probe into the alleged involvement of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, his cabinet members and police officials in the post-Godhra riots, a Supreme Court bench headed by DK Jain on Thursday asked the team to file its report by December 31.

On April 27, the court had asked the SIT to complete the probe within three months on a complaint made by Jakia Nasim Ahesan, wife of slain Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, accusing Modi and 62 others of aiding and abetting the persons involved in the killings during the 2002 riots.
