Govt Might Set up JPC for IPL Probe: Pranab
Union Finance Minster Pranab Mukherjee has said that the central government might form a Joint Parliamentary Committee to look into the IPL controversy and that the decision will be taken after ‘due diligence’, reported PTI.
“It (a decision on JPC) is to be taken after due diligence and consideration. It cannot be like instant coffee or instant consideration,” he was quoted as saying in the Lok Sabha while reacting to the Opposition demand for JPC.
The minister said that the government will have to think over it, report said.
“I will communicate your sentiments to the Prime Minister. As and when the government takes a decision, we will come to Parliament. Let us wait for some time,” he was quoted as saying.
However, the Opposition MPs were not satisfied with him and continued to press for immediate acceptance of their demand and in the din, Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the House till noon, said report.
