Gadkari Denies Giving Clean Chit to Cong in Anti-Sikh Riots

BJP chief Nitin Gadkari has said that he has not said anything to give clean chit to the Congress in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, said media reports.

“I have not said any such thing and I have been quoted out of context,” he was quoted as saying in Nagpur.

The BJP president made the remarks while reacting to a radio report in which he was quoted as saying that though some people might have been involved in the riots but it would not be entirely correct to say that the riots were initiated by the (Congress) government.

“My statement was totally misinterpreted. The reference was to riots in Gujarat where Chief Minister Narendra Modi was being blamed and held responsible,” he was quoted as saying.
