Modi made distance from Kodnani, Bajrangi: Sanjeev Bhatt
New Delhi: Suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt on Saturday wrote a letter to the former accusing him of distancing from his close aide and convicts Maya Kodnani and Babu Bajrangi in Naroda Patiya riot case.
Bhatt had posted the letter addressed to the chief minister for inclusion in Modi’s Friday ‘hangout’ on Google+. In the letter, the IPS officer wonders whether Modi had deliberately dumped Kodnani and Babu Bajrangi — his ‘loyal lieutenants’ — as they had been convicted and sentenced to long terms in prison.
“Was it perchance that you smartly distanced yourself from all these unfortunate people at an opportune moment?” Bhatt writes in the letter. He goes on to wonder whether the chief minister had ever spared a thought for the family members of the convicts who had been condemned to a life of suffering for no fault of theirs.
“Have you spared a thought for the innocent family members of the accused who have been sentenced to a lifetime behind bars? …Have you even once thought about the plight of the wives and children of your onetime adulators who have been condemned for life?” says Bhatt in his letter .
The police officer’s letter to Maya Kodnani is bitterly critical of her for the crimes she had committed and for which she was convicted.
“You are a woman and a practicing gynaecologist. How could you participate in butchering innocent and helpless women and children?” Bhatt says in the letter. He further hints that Kodnani had committed the crimes she had at the behest of someone else.
“Dear Maya Kodnani, have you ever thought whether it is ok to kill another human being just because someone directed you to wreak vengeance on a particular community?… Did it ever occur to you that those who patronised you, might one day betray and sacrifice you for political expediency?” says Bhatt in the letter to Kodnani.
