Fire Breaks out in Banglore Hotel, Doused

A fire broke out on the terrace of a five-storey Gold Towers in the heart of Bangalore this afternoon, destroying a temporary shed, said media reports citing police.

However, nobody is reported to have died or wounded in the fire.

“The fire occurred between 1.45-2 p.m. in the shed on the roof of Gold Towers. No casualties have been reported so far. The fire has been brought under control,” Deputy Commissioner of Police G Ramesh was quoted as saying while talking to reporters.

The fire started in the restaurant kitchen of the hotel located on Residency Road, said reports.

Immediately, five fire engines were rushed to the spot to douse the fire and all people inside the hotel were evacuated, reports said.

“The cause of the fire is being investigated,” Ramesh was quoted as saying.

Reports quoted an unnamed fire official as saying that the hotel had illegally added portions to the building and inflammable material was in the interior decoration.
