FIR Filed against Tytler, Sharma for Mentioning PCC Office-bearers Caste in List

An FIR has been lodged against AICC in-charge of Bihar Jagdish Tytler and state Congress chief Anil Sharma for allegedly infringing the SC and ST Atrocity Prevention Act, said reports.

Needless to add, the list of Bihar PCC officer bearers that was released last week contained caste names, including that of Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar’s, who is a permanent invitee to PCC.

PTI reported that Dalit Kranti Morcha leader Vidhanchandra Rana filed FIR against Tytler and Sharma in Patna this afternoon.

Police said that the duo faced charges under various sections of the SC/ST Prevention Act 1989 and that an inquiry was ordered into the matter.

Rana, who accused both Tytler and Sharma of violating the act by naming castes of the leaders in the list, termed the act as ‘a constitutional crime’.

The list released by Sharma for different committees under the state Congress found mention of the name of Meira Kumar, as one among 64 permanent invitees, along with her caste.

Sharma had denied having released the list with caste details and described it as ‘handiwork of forces inimical to him’.
