Ensure war-footing efforts to deal with swine flu: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed for war-footing efforts to control swine flu in the state. He said that all hospitals have adequate arrangements to deal with swine flu. There is no shortage of medicines. Medicines and other facilities are also being given by the state government to private hospitals authorised by it. Shri Chouhan reviewed arrangements and preparations for treatment and control of swine flu at Mantralaya here today.

Urging private hospitals to cooperate, the Chief Minister said that they should work in tandem with government with team spirit. Saving lives of swine flu patients is the prime goal. Extending immediate proper treatment facility to patients is biggest Dharma. He directed to make available medicines, masks and other equipments to authorised private hospitals. Private hospitals will charge nothing from patients for facilities made available by the state government. He said that all medical facilities be it government or private are meant for the public. Control over swine flu would be possible only with mutual cooperation.

On the Chief Minister’s initiative, Chirayu Hospital offered to provide free facility of ventilators, beds and ambulance. Similarly, LN Hospital, Kolar also offered service of beds and other equipments. In case number of swine flu patients exceeds in government hospitals, they may be referred to private hospitals.

The Chief Minister directed for constitution of a coordination committee of government and private hospitals. Ten representatives each from both sides will nominated on the committee. Its first meeting is proposed to be held at Mantralaya on February 12 at 10.30 am.

Representatives of Bansal Hospital, Sharda Hospital, Chirayu Hospital, People’s Medical Hospital, Bhopal, MY Hospital and Choithram Hospital, Indore, BMHRC and LN Hospital, Bhopal, Health Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra, Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa, Principal Secretary to CM Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary Medical Education Shri Ajay Tirkey, Principal Secretary Health Shri Praveer Krishna, Health Commissioner Shri Pankaj Agrawal, senior doctors of health and medical education departments of Hamidia and JP hospitals attended the meeting.
