Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh

Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy took oath as the new Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh by Governor E. S. L. Narasimhan on Thursday. He is Fifty-year-old right now.

Before the swearing-in-ceremony, Veerappa Moily, who is the AICC general secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh, said Mr. Reddy had been given a free hand to select the members of his Council of Ministers. He declined to speak about the likely composition of the new team saying that the Chief Minister was the right person to say anything about it. He said that there would a Deputy Chief Minister from among the Congress leaders in Telangana.

At a function on the lawns of the Raj Bhavan, Mr. Reddy took the oath of office and secrecy to become the 16th Chief Minister of the State. Chief Secretary S. V. Prasad earlier invited him to take the oath.

On the occasion other then the outgoing Chief Minister K. Rosaiah, several members of his erstwhile Cabinet were present there including MPs, MLAs and senior bureaucrats. Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad attended the function in their capacity as AICC observers.
