9 killed and 165 severely injured in mine accident in China

BEIJING: In an accident that occurred in China’s northern Inner Mongolia autonomous region nine miners have been killed and 16 others were injured.

The accident occurred on Monday when a blast the mine in the early hours killing four peoples on the spot.

The body of five missing persons found out by rescuers after a eight hour long search. A spokes man said that 16 severely injured miners are being treated at a local hospital.

He further said that the mine is licensed at its capacity is about 300,000 tons of coal a year.

The cause of the accident is still not clear and investigations are started. The State Administration of Work Safety said last Friday that about 185 accidents were occurred in the first quarter of the year which led to the deaths of 289 people.

The main reason of accidents seems to be poor safety regulations and a lack of safety awareness news agency Xinhua said.
